How to vote for peaceful bayside

On 14 September Peaceful Bayside is giving voters an exciting choice for fresh, visionary leadership by running candidates in all five Bayside wards.

On Saturday 4 December, Bayside Council will elect 15 Councillors to represent the community across the five wards.
 

It's compulsory to register, and also to vote in this election. Check that your enrolment details are correct. Enquiries should be directed to the NSW Electoral Commission on

1300 135 736.

Your vote counts towards electing three Councillors who will represent Ward 5 on Bayside Council for the Council term.

These are some of the issues that matter to us all and that Peaceful Bayside is campaigning on:

  • Safer roads

​

  • More inclusive family-friendly neighbourhoods

​

  • Sustainability and better managed green spaces

casting your vote

Most people vote in person – but there are other options as outlined below.

This year how to vote cards cannot be handed out within 100 metres of polling booths, due to COVID-19. We suggest you take a photo of our how to vote card (above) to remind you how to make your vote for Peaceful Bayside.

 

To vote for Peaceful Bayside, write the number 1 in the Group B box above the line. 

​

Above the line preferences: you can then choose to preference other candidates if you wish by writing 2, 3 etc. in other boxes above the line. This is not mandatory. To ensure a valid vote, you only need to write the number 1 in 1 box above the line (Group B for Peaceful Bayside).

​

You cannot vote above and below the line. If you do, your vote will be invalid.

 

If you choose to vote below the line instead of above the line, you must vote for a minimum of 3 candidates below the line (for Ward 5, Bayside).

Pre-poll (early voting)

  • Commences on 22 November and closes on 3 December 2021

  • Monday – Saturday: 9am – 5pm

  • For the 2021 Local Government elections, any person who is enrolled to vote may vote by pre-poll

  • There is no absentee vote allowed on the day of the election this year, so if you can't vote on 4 December you must vote via pre-poll or postal vote.

Return of completed postal votes:

  • Postal votes must be returned by 6pm on Friday 17 December 2021.

  • It is important to note that electors should still and are encouraged to return their postal vote as soon as possible.

Postal voting

Applications for postal voting are now open.

Applications close at 5pm on 29 November 2021.

To apply for a postal vote you can either apply online or download and return a postal vote application form.
 

Mailing of postal voting packs commenced on 8 November.

 

You can apply for a postal vote if you:

  • will be outside your ward or council area

  • will be more than 8km from a polling place

  • will be travelling

  • are seriously ill, disabled or approaching childbirth (or caring for someone who is)

  • have religious beliefs that prevent you from attending

  • are in prison or a correctional centre

  • will be working

  • are a silent elector. Note: You must already be registered with the AEC as a silent elector

  • are a person with a disability

  • believe that attending will pose a risk to your personal safety or the safety of your family

  • are enrolled in the City of Sydney council.

 

In addition to existing postal vote eligibility criteria, the following criteria also apply. You are able to use postal voting if you:

 

  • are a permanent or temporary resident in a hospital, nursing home, retirement village or similar facility

  • are self-isolating because of COVID-19 related reasons

  • reasonably believe that attending a polling place on election day will pose a risk to the health or safety of yourself or people around you, because of the COVID-19 pandemic. â€‹
